Comparisons with 2013 BBC Version

I loved the sumptuous color photography in the daytime scenes, the young leads were all appropriately attractive or dashing, and the plot really pulled my wife and me in for the first 1/3 or so.

But the scenes of Iris trying to track down anyone who had seen Miss Froy in the darkened train seemed to drag on forever, the evil plotters seemed to mug too much when they were supposed to be mysterious or menacing, and the ending seemed fairly rushed and anticlimactic.

For me, Hitch's version is still the best, hands down.

J'ai l'œil AMÉRICAIN !

I haven't seen the new one, but I thought the 1970s remake with Cybill shepherd and Elliot Gould was quite good for a remake. The original will laways be the best though.

I agree the original is best. I was determined to hate the Cybill/Elliot remake, BUT I found it charming. It was faithful when it needed to be, original when it needed to be. It should be in a textbook of "How to Make a Remake".
