gueule d'atmosphere
In this film Arletty says her famous line: Atmosphere! j'ai une gueule d'atmosphere!! I know French but I don't know what it means. Does it have a special meaning, that of "a face of atmosphere? Where is the joke there?
shareThe joke is in the dialogue : Jouvet says he needs a change of atmosphere, and Arletty takes it for her, and replies that it's the first time anybody has referred to her as an "atmosphere". On paper, these lines are a little tacky, but Jouvet and Arletty bring them to another level.
