I don't get the title.

It's called holiday in the titles, posters, DVD and when it is shown on TV but when I searched for it on imdb it didn't find it, I ended up looking on Katharine Hepburn's list of credits for 1938 and wouldn’t have found it if I hadn't seen her character’s name. What I don't understand is why it says it's called free to live and in brackets holiday - original title when it is called holiday on a DVD released in 2006. Please can someone explain this - I can't think of and reasonable explanation.

...i believe it has to do w\the freedom of being "you" even w\out compromise and thus life becomes a "Holiday" (caveat:it may be costly in the process)

I understand how "free to live" relates to the film, what I don't get is why the title was changed at all and only on this website.

Nowadays it's called a "gap year" and is quite acceptable, even fashionable.
Back then, the concept didn't exist: "holiday" was the only available name for it, which of course was incomprehensible to a stuffy banker (and his stuffy daughter). Only her more intuitive sister was able to "get" it.

Johnny wanted to start his married life with a long Holiday. He did not want to work right away.

its because IMDB has done some wierd thing when they went through the wierd design and now some titles are coming up wrong. Its stupid and annoying, i know.
