history does repeat


interesting... the one Oscar nomination this film received was for the song "Jeepers Creepers", and the one nomination for "Day at the Races" was for the stage number "All Gods Children got Rhythm".

There's a dance number near the end (Mutiny in the nursery) where they sing "Sing a Song of Sixpence", "Jitterbugs", "Rock a Bye-Baby", and the alphabet song (ABC, DEFG...) there's a lot of energy, but probably would have gotten better marks if they had picked more challenging, lesser-known songs.

good opportunity to see L Armstrong do his stuff.
