I leave TCM on as background noise at my house due to the lack of commercials. This was on late at night. I noticed it was a very bad movie. Almost bad enough to be good for being bad.
Bad acting, bad music, except for the signature song, dumb story. Has it all. Going to look to see who's the director.
Actually, I quite enjoy this movie. It would probably be better if the songs "They Say" and "Say It With a Kiss," originally intended as Dick Powell's big romantic ballads, hadn't been removed from the final cut, and if the big "Mutiny in the Nursery" number had had a more imaginative director like Berkeley or Minnelli, but the snappy wisecracks and Louis Armstrong's great performance of "Jeepers Creepers" make it fun to watch.
