At first I thought the version TCM is currently showing was colorized. The colors are SO vivid, so varied ... it really looks like it was filmed in black and white and then some imaginative technicians colored everything. Can't find anything on the main IMDb page that. But maybe it's just been restored, very painstakingly. In any event beautiful to look at.

I am not certain, but I think that this may have been shot in two-strip technicolor, rather than the later three-strip process, leading to a more limited color pallet, but stronger colors.
