Remake of 'Mayor of Hell'

The plot is the same in every way.

The Warners were infamous for this. How many versions of "Maltese Falcon" were there?

They even continued it in the early TV days. Plots of the WB westerns and crime shows were often lifted from earlier movies, and sometimes from each other.

On TV a classic example is where both "Starky & Hunch", and "Matt Houston"
had "Play Missy for Me/Fatal Attraction" and both had tales where the crooks want to kill a dirty cop and everyone else in a resturant. Both were SPELLIN shows.

In film we had Bond's YOLT re-made 2 1/2 times TSWLM, MR(1/2) & TND

"The Adventures of Sinbad" did "Forbidden Planet", "The Professional" and a number of other films.
