'Cowboy from Brooklyn' vs 'War and Peace'

A bit shocked by the 5.9 rating. OK, it can be argued that 'Cowboy from Brooklyn' really isn't very realistic perhaps, was 'a bit' silly, or beyond at times....and doesn't make a lot of multifaceted social, political or ethical statements like "War and Peace" does.

But it was very funny at times, and always entertaining IMO.

On the other hand "War and Peace" doesn't include "Ride, Tenderfoot, Ride"....which I suppose makes them about even

Agree on the miserly 5.9 rating. I'm a big Priscilla Lane fan and this was an interesting one-off role she played as a western cowgirl so I found it offbeat and fun. I'd say more a heavy 7 rating, especially given the virtual all star cast of Lane, Ronald Reagan, Pat O'Brien, and Ann Sheridan.

Well I see it has made huge strides up to 6.1....so I feel a little better. I suspect the comedy and plot in this is a bit too different maybe for modern audiences.

Yes like Priscilla Lane very much but afraid I have only seen her in this and A&OLace....

For another rather "silly but a lot of fun" movie with a Pat O'Brien and a great cast....look for "The Garden Of The Moon". :)

If those are the only two movies you have some catching up to do. The problem is not many of her movies ever get shown on TCM. I do highly recommend both Four Daughters and Saboteur. These invariably get shown on TCM so keep an eye out for them.

A few years later, but TCM just had Priscilla Lane day on her birthday.

Both Brother Rat films will be on again July 21, as well.
