Help Me Identify a Similar Film

Within the last year I recently saw another film that was very similar to this one, and to A Lady Takes a Chance. I cannot remember the name of the movie or any of the cast members, although I thought it was possibly a Carole Lombard film. (I don't think it sound like the synopses I have read for I Take This Woman) I think there is a whirlwind romance but I don't remember where. The cowboy has told his new bride that his "spread" is very modest, but when he brings her home, she is taken aback by her new home! (She initially mistakes the adjacent neighbor's very nice ranch house for her own new home and is delightfully surprised. Her pleasant surprise turns to dismay, however, when her new husband turns - not right, into the ranch's drive - but left down a dusty road to a small shack!) On their first night home, the neighbors arrange for a hoe-down to welcome their neighbor and his new bride back home. At the shindig, we learn that the locals are all shocked that he got married, and learn that they had all expected him to marry a fetching female-rancher neighbor (with whom he had apparently been very friendly). She actually tries to help the new bride learn the ropes, but when things get too tough, she heads back to the city. I don't recall the rest. It is certainly no classic, but I enjoyed it, and I would love for somebody to PLEASE identify it for me. Thanks for the help!

"I Take This Woman" 1931, starring Lombard and.... LOL, Gary Cooper! "The Cowboy and the Lady" is considered a virtual remake of "...Woman".

I believe the movie you're thinking of is "Never A Dull Moment" from 1950, with Fred MacMurray and Irene Dunne. Dunne retired from films after this one. It also features a young Natalie Wood as one of MacMurray's daughters. It is occasionally shown on TCM, which is where I saw it.

Yes, it is Never a Dull Moment. I have seen it a couple of times since my first posting asking about it. I have commented on this wonderful, underappreciated gem on its page. I was surprised to see how many people gave it bad comments.

I am a huge fan of Irene Dunne. Actually I believe that Irene Dunne's last film was "It Grows on Trees." If you like Irene, be sure to check it out when possible. It is even more rarely televised than Never a Dull Moment. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I'm so jealous!! Where did you get to see I Take This Woman?!? It's one of the "lost" films, with only one known print remaining, I think. I heard it was screened at the Myrna Loy Center at the U. of Montana a few years back.

Ran at the Film Forum in NYC several years ago. Sold out, natch. And later during a Gary Cooper Festival at the Myrna Loy Center in Helena, Montana. It was restored by Tom Toth. Not sure what has happened to it and why it has never come out on dvd. Cooper and Lombard had terrific chemistry (considering they were having an affair at the time, not suprrising), even if the film wasn't the greatest.

You're thinking of "Montana Moon" with Joan Crawford and Johnny Mack Brown.

No, I was thinking of "Never a Dull Moment" with Irene Dunne and Fred MacMurray. But thanks for playing! I will check out "Montana Moon", too.
