MST3K reject

In an interview Kevin Murphy and Mike Nelson were hesitant to name this movie when talking of some of the terrible films that they chose to NOT do for MST3K

Have to admit, it IS a touchy subject (no pun intended)
But I did like the film! The acting was well done (rare for these backwater exploitation movies)...

I just watched the extra on the boxset that had the San Diego Con Panel of 2008 so I hunted for it. For them to say it was scary and not want to touch it, I'm shocked that it's rated at a 5.2 currently.

This movie is creepy with terrible undertones of pedophila. The director clearly had a thing for little kids. I don't blame the MST crew for not wanting to touch this thing with a ten foot pole. The skinny dipping scene alone was enough to make me want to lose my lunch.

Based on a true story ! It was not really the director who had an interest !

I think you want to suppress this movie because of your own possible hidden desires you in turn want to suppress.

I guess Roots should have been toned, too, in your book. "Ooh, must look at life through rose coloured glasses and the movies we watch must reflect that."

Child Bride(1938) is the best of the worst. It's quite solid on a technical level. Shirley Mills was sooooooooooo cute. She acted in The Grapes of Wrath(1940) years later. Kevin Murphy of MST3K describes Child Bride as a movie "filmed in Crackerville with people who lived in the area. I needed a shower and a drink afterwards!" Brad Jones(The Cinema Snob) did a good job poking fun of the film.

"Worst Little Rascals episode ever!"

"This tale was written by Gary Glitter!"

"Traci Lords could have played Jenny!"

Murphy and Nelson have it in their private collections.

If you put me on ignore, then how can I notify you when I win the lottery?

The director? Really? Due to the subject matter, wouldn't you have to sexualize the 12-year old girl a bit? Basically, she hung out of her dress a bit early in the movie, but no more than her mother or any other "local." Then, there is the skinny dipping scene, which serves to make "the bad guy" drool. I was surprised to see her pert little tatas pop out, but other than that, was there really anything (and even THAT served to further the story)?
