How is the DVD?

i watched this on a bootleg vhs copy, which had several problems. one of which was that it was rather dark. for those who have watched la bête humaine on dvd let me know if it has been cleaned up well.
thank you.

You can get it on the Jean Renoir box-set by Warner Bros (La Bete Humaine, La Grande Illusion and Le Crime de Monsieur Lange). Same packaging as their Luis Bunuel and Jean Luc Godard sets, and the quality is good.

I got mine in a sale at HMV in London for £12 (should have been £30) a couple of weeks back - might still be available if you're lucky.

I have a French copy, released by Studio Canal....probably widely available on the net (try amazon.fr or something similar) which although packaged in french does have english subtitles.

The version I watched was the criterion collection from netflix, and I'd say the film clarity was excellent, not at all dark or grainy.
