Brontosaurus - not a 'real' dinosaur

Everyone probably knows this already, but there is no such thing as a brontosaurus. Early paleontologists only had a precious few skeletons to work with, and drew some erroneous conclusions about extinct species. The brontosaurus is actually an apatosaurus with the head of a camarasaurus. It wasn't until 1989 when the postal service was issuing some stamps that the uproar over the error came to a head.

Thank you for your post. I knew of the "brontosaurus" by that name as a child and youth. At some point the name changed, but I never found the whole story. I got little snippets here and there, but not the whole thing. You have reawakened my curiosity about the story (of the brontosaurus, that is).

It seems since 2015 the bronotsaurus exists again, even if only in an extinct way
