Why no DVDs?

I haven't seen the Blondie films for several years now - and what a shame!! Great family films, of the 30s/40s - and Baby Dumpling was a brilliant little kid, who we thought of as a smart kid brother when we were little....I remember a lovely little funny dog as well....

They have to bring these out on DVD - I for one would definitely buy them.

And if they ever do release them...please remember there are Blondie fans and fans-to-be in the UK too!!

Yeah!I saw this show on t.v. in the early 90`s and it was great.
I would love to have it on dvd or even vhs.

At least the first 10 movies are on dvd. I found a set of 2 dvds at Best Buy for a mere $5.99 last fall and there are 5 movies on each dvd. What a Great Old Series. Will be looking for more.

I will check it out. Thank you.

I also got that set, hopefully they'll release the rest.

I just received the dvds from the U.S today.I bought them for my wife who loved them when they were screened on uk tv on weekday mornings in the 1980s.I was a bit disappointed when I read a running time for both discs of 144 minutes & was expecting the 70 minute features to have been severely edited but all seem virtually full length.People on Amazon complained about the picture quality which I thought ranged from good to excellent for 10 70 minute movies which cost me £10.00 including postage.Hope she still likes them now!.

blimey where did you get them - i must have them!! i did have a look in ONE video/dvd store in new york when i was there recently (they specialise in the less obvious stuff).

If you can play Region 1 DVDs AmazonUK has them(10 films in the set)Sadly I haven't heard any news or any info about the rest of the films being released. A few years ago one of the classic movie channels(which now only plays current mainstream films with commercials)ran a marathon of the entire films series, I wish I would have recorded them.

I don't exactly call a disappearing raw chicken a murder attempt.

Get them at Best Buy (and some Circuit City stores). The quality is exceptable, and they come with only very basic features, but you can't beat the price at under $10!!!!

These sets are available all over the place including nearly every internet site that sells dvds.

Each of the 28 movies was released individually on VHS in the 1990's, you can probably find used copies (if expensively) on ebay or Amazon.com.

Hi there,
Several years ago I bought the two dvd sets of the first 10 films in the series.
I wondered why no additional sets were released.
I read somewhere on the web a couple of years back, I can not remember where), that the rights to these 28 films returned to King Features or Hearst or something. So Columbia no longer has the rights to these films.
I remember seeing a few of them as a kid on summer holidays in the states.
I later saw a film called "The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz" in a revival art house I was taken too as a kid. I do not remember the film at all, but I do remember a clip in the film showed the original Columbia "Blondie" titles.
These were not the King Feature tv versions. I would vote 100% to have the original title credits and end credits restored.
I also read in that long ago article that the original films did not have that extra padding (scenes) at the beginning of the follow up features. These were added to round up the films to a longer length at approximately 70 minutes.
If and when these films could be restored to their original condition of release and then sold as a package or sets would be great.
However, I feel that they would not sell too many copies :-(
Maybe they should show restored versions on some cable station in the states and then release box sets?
I get the feeling this is what happened with the wonderfull Charlie Chan films.
(i wish i had the later sets beginning 1942 or so, but i do not as yet...PC or not...)

Wow that is a good buy, the lunch box is worth that price alone. In fact, I've often considered buying the lunch box/dvd combo when I've seen it in the $10 range even though I already own the movies because the lunch box is so cool.
