S.S. Gigantic and S.S. Colossal

The futuristic ocean liner S.S. Gigantic was loosely based on an earlier (and more practical) concept for a streamlined passenger ship by industrial designer Norman Bel Geddes.

The Gigantic's rival, the S.S. Colossal, was actually a model of the French transatlatic liner Normandie.

There's also a children's book called S.S. Gigantic Across the Atlantic, which has absolutely nothing to do with this movie.
