The best movie of all time?

In my opinion,yes.

I think with the wide variety of genre and the sheer number of titles churned out over the years, combined with the respect you'd have to have for the preferences of other critics-(like if you said Star Wars was the best ever, and someone else said Citizen Kane, much as I like Angels you would have a hell of a time calling the others wrong)

SO with all due respect, determining ANY movie to be the best is rather silly, by memory I think Citizen Kane is oft presumed to be of such repute. I've not seen but bits and pieces of it though.

It could be said Citizen Kane for all its stellar craft suffers by being less relevant as time passes, while Angels could be comfortably accepted as a morality lesson for troubled young men many decades into the future.

Angels should be on the top 100 of anyone with a brain.

this guy must have thought they said "trains" and took a bus outta town (maybe to Omaha?) instead of getting his:

by his own count the top 400+ and must have forgotten it. In his defense a superb summary of my point about "the best".

Angels with Dirty Faces is my favorite movie of all time. I saw it in 1938 when it first came out, and from that point on, Jimmy Cagney became my favorite actor of all time.

I think "The Roaring Twenties" was better. Bogie is better, Gladys George is better than Ann Sheridan, and frankly, the Dead End Kids are sometimes annoying.

Also, the whole storyline of how tough life is for a returning war veteran is sadly, still quite current.

Exactly the way I feel about it. Also a better story and all the performers at the top of their game. Bogey is better as a nasty gangster than as a weaselly lawyer.

Wow. One of the oldest IMDB posters. Hope they are still alive and kicking.

Definately in my top 50 movies of all time.

Its definately become more of one my favourites now, also featuring two of my favourite actors in Bogart and Cagney. I think its an underrated film.
As a Bogey fan I checked this out but didnt know much of Cagney, and instantly had the utmost respect and admiration for his talent after seeing this.

AGREE

This movie is great and one of my all time favorites. If I'm ever flipping the channels and I see this is on, I always tell myself I am just going to watch a few minutes. Then, of course I end up finishing it. Oh, maybe for the twentieth time.
