Hedy and the Wig........Boyer looks good....

Just my thoughts, obviously...........
I thought Algiers was a fine movie, a classic, even......BUT: Yes, Hedy Lamarr was beautiful, her eyes were gorgeous, however her hair looked like a big, black straw wig. There was no bounce to it, it just stood there sticking out, no movement at all. And I guess because of the habit of the times: her "hat" actions seemed out of place.

Also, I never could understand why Charles Boyer was ever considered a "romantic lead", what with his unattractive looks (no Clooney) and his obvious hair piece (not necessarily a negative). Although, yes his positive was his voice, it could be considered sexy (he would have been great doing voice overs). However, in this film: I could get an inkling of his allure and charm that appealed to many, apparently.

Gene Lockhart was certainly worthy of his Oscar nomination. The Inspector, Joseph Cal.... should have been nominated, too.

Anyway, that's my story. Such as it is...........

I hope that was not all you got out of this fine classic? Perhaps her hair was 'sprayed'..but that was no wig. It ever occurred to you that the set or location was hot and humid, that is suppose to be Africa, you know, and we all know what humidity does to woman's hair under those conditions. That was one of her crowning glories..her jet black hair, and women went crazy dyeing their hair to look like hers at that time. I'm a senior too and remember the sensation she created in her first American film.

I think the two have/had a wonderful chemistry together. She was beautiful, hair framing that flawless face and all, and he was very dashing, accent and all, but I guess it's to each their own.
