He never says...

Is this old chestnut like "Play it again, Sam"?
I was sort of waiting for Boyer to say, "Come weeth me to zee Casbah, and we weel make beautiful music togehzair".
He never does, which makes me think it was a joke on the radio, that got passed along, until that's what we remember.

I remember it too, maybe some old cartoon, probably Looney Tunes?

reply

Yes, it was from a Looney Tunes cartoon.

Pepé Le Pew, voiced by the inimitable Mel Blanc, was the French skunk character that is constantly seeking "L'amour".

Nowadays his relentless pursuit of female skunks, usually a black cat who has accidentally had a white stripe painted down her back, would be considered sexual harassment!

Or like the supposed line from Mae West: "Come up and see me some time."

She never said it in a movie!
