This movie needs to be on dvd.

I love this movie, it's a classic. Why is this not on dvd? This is the best Tom Sawyer movie ever made.

Yeah I agree. My nan has it on video and I watched it countless times growing up. I'd definitely buy it if it came out!

I found one on eBay, and someone else has uploaded the movie to YouTube in 9 and 10 minute sections. My video is probably a bootleg copy, but it's a decent one and appears to be the complete 50s re-release (77 min).

For me,this still remains the Best "Tom Sawyer". It's amazing with it's pedigree, color and place in movie history, that a restored DVD isn't out yet.

I notice that 1937s "A Star is Born" and "Nothing Sacred" - both David Selznick movies and both done in early three-strip technicolor are getting a release later in the month on the Kino label. Does this bode well for a release for "Adventures of Tom Sawyer" which is a 1938, three-strip technicolor movie and a Selznick production?
Now that I look at it, David Selznick was a busy boy from 1937-39!

I was at the Grocery Store today and saw a DVD with this movie combined with Ron Howard in Huckleberry Finn, Where the Red Fern Grows and a Lassie movie. Four movies for 7 or 8 dollars, but I really just bought it for Tom Sawyer.

I agree. This movie needs a DVD release. I don't know why it hasn't been released on DVD. It is a good movie.
