A "doltergeist" is a spirit that decides to haunt someplace stupid, such as your septic tank.

Shirley Temple was long, long, long, before my time but I remember seeing these movies on TV when I was little. I loved her then and I still love her now.

I can't get over how good she was. She didn't just act, she seemed to embody the characters. She didn't just say the words, she backed them up with all the correct emotions, expressions, inflections, everything. She did that even in the movies that were made when she was very young and didn't know how to read lines so not only did she have to remember the words but the gestures and everything else too.

A lot of kids are raised on TV and could do similarly at her age now but she was doing all this at a time when she didn't have twenty-four hour TV to watch and imitate. I am so impressed as I am with kids in general but she definitely was something else!

The flip side of that couldn't have been very good. She seemed to grow up well-adjusted and normal but expressing all those emotions could not have been easy on her. The scene you're referring to was very sad and so believable. For a moment I forgot I was watching a movie. When you express emotions, the situation may not be real but you feel the emotions nonetheless.

I'd like to give some credit to her mother (I never hear of the dad) but I hear her mother was tough on her. That's according to another young actress who worked on a movie with her. Still, she grew up to be as wonderful a person and as much a role model as she was as a little girl.

Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan. [Tarzan and his mate]
