Watching it Now (5/17/2013)

I am watching this movie right on on TCM. It is quite good. The acting is excellent and the production values very good for a B-murder mystery. The seance scene is going on now and is done in total darkness with only voices heard. Quite entertaining.

I just finished watching it too. I wish there were more movies like this one. Nice short mysteries. I really wanted to smack the sister when she lied about knowing that guy after the cat was left out of the bag. And how the Detective just took her word for it. And she apologizes later because she thought her husband was involved. Oh ok. But it was a very entertaining movie. There was a earlier version of this movie, like to see that too. Just to see Bela Lugosi play the Detective part. But the production values in this movies were higher.

I really like these old murder mysteries too. Just before it started, I tried to look it up in Leonard Maltin's 2012 Movie Guide and also his Classic Movie Guide, but it wasn't listed in either one. Much better to just check these old obscure movies in Imdb. They are always here.

Rain knocked out my TV and I didn't get to see the end. I would very much appreciate it if someone would tell me who killed Lee and Wales. I looked it up on Wiki but no luck. I suspect the nasty blonde woman, but I don't know where she would have hidden a knife in that dress.

It seems a bit farfetched that someone would bring a knife to a seance, especially if they didn't know there was going to be a seance. Did they know ahead of time? It wasn't clear.

Wow, it's been two weeks since I watched it. I can't remember for sure who did it, but it wasn't any of the women. I want to say the killer was Sir Roscoe, but am not completely sure. The knife was sticking in the ceiling . He threw it up there after the second murder, and they discovered it when a flash of lightning threw a shadow of it on the wall or a table. Something like that. Wish I could be more help, but I am sure that the murderer was one of the men, and I think it was Sir Roscoe.

Thank you!

Neat trick, with the knife.

Who done it: The old guy with white hair named Mason did it. He apparently never held hands in the circle and stabbed the victim, holding the knife with Nell's handkerchief, and flung it into the ceiling.

Always the officiant, never the bride. http://www.withthiskissitheewed.com

Oh, there are quite a few short mysteries from the 1930s.

The Thirteenth Guest
The Ninth Guest
Murder on the Campus
Murder by Television
Murder by the Clock
Death Kiss
Murder with Pictures
The Thirteenth Man
Murder at Midnight

etc.

Just do an all-out search on the web for key words like "murder" and "thirteen".

Hope that helps! 
