This is a remake of the 1929 film.

I watched the movie on TCM yesterday. I looked it up and saw a mention of an earlier version which I happily found the entire film on youtube. Bela Lugosi played Mr Wales. This was 2 yrs before 'Dracula' was released. Nice to be able to watch both and compare them. The main difference: In the earlier version the secretary Helen reveals her connection to one of the guest. In this one it's one of the main secrets and only comes out after another murder.

Trivia:

There was also a silent version made in 1919.

Holmes Herbert who played Sir Roscoe Crosby also played the same role in the original film.
