What a funny film!

I was pleasantly surprised at how engaging and frankly how funny this film was. I laughed out loud a number of times... the slapstick was hilarious and the Preview Card gag really caught me off guard.

The ending really blew... very unsatisfying... but the rest of the film was great.

Highly recommend to film buffs.

I was pleasantly surprised, as well, but possibly for different reasons. I had never seen Leslie Howard before watching this film and at first I thought his character, Atterbury Dodd, was going to bore me to tears. Next thing I knew I was pulling for him and Blondell's character to get together. I haven't rooted that hard for a couple in forever. For the acting, writing, directing, etc., to take me from one extreme to the other was a refreshingly unexpected roller coaster ride. The film has its flaws, but overall it was worth the time.

Cheese fries...next time.

I like the ending. i think leslie howard's proposal to joan Blondell is very touching.

I agree, it's touching even though he rushed through it (which made sense given his lack of experience with women). Blondell had a fitting response to that.

Mag, Darling, you're being a bore.
