Did Ginger, Adolph, and Katharine have difficult relationships?

Two of them differed greatly from one of them in terms of politics. Both Ginger and Adolph were strong supporters of HUAC. Katharine was not.

Can't answer your direct question, but - I was just thinking while watching this tonight how much I used to enjoy him, back when I was a kid watching old movies with Mom.

Then I found out he named names to HUAC and I've never seen him the same way since.

Really soiled him for me.

Ginger and Kate, from what I understand, had a cordial, but competitive relationship. They were the top two female stars at RKO, the only difference being that Ginger was worshipped and adored by the public (largely due to her pictures with Fred) and thus put lots of hineys in theater seats, and Kate, who was not too popular with the movie going public, and was labeled 'box office poison'. I think probably Ginger tried to be friendly with Kate (she painted Miss Hepburn's portrait once), but i think Kate viewed Ginger as serious competition, especially considering the time when Ginger wanted to try out for Hepburn's role in 'Mary of Scotland' (1936). Someone has probably already discussed that story somewhere on this message board I imagine! I'm pretty biased when it comes to Ginger. I worship and adore the woman more than anyone on earth!

As for Adolph Menjou and Ms Hepburn, they were diametrically opposed politically - he was very much to the right, and she to the left, and I've read that there was quite a bit of tension between them. Ginger was a staunch republican as well. Ginger and Mr. Menjou made several films together and had a friendly relationship, I believe.

I seriously don't know of anyone in the industry that Ginger didn't get along well with, except Kate...but as I said, I think they were cordial.
