Serious question. Whomever it is must be doing quite well. In a days work, the dwarves dig out buckets of massive, pre polished in cut diamonds, rubies, and emeralds. Do they have any idea how money they're sitting on? And when they go home, they just leave that *beep* sitting in buckets outside. Either people around those parts are very trustworthy or they have a very healthy fear of the mine's owners.

shareI think he dwarves are just hoarders, they dig for themselves and collect the jewels they find like someone might collect stamps or cards, etc. They really don't care about money they just like their collection of shiny jewels for themselves.
So to answer your question, they work for themselves and hoard their treasure, they are actually very rich because of it...but money doesn't mean anything to them as they prefer their simple lives in the forest.
Yeah, they've got a full vault of gems. They never even mention it with Snow White later on. I think they mine jewels because they want something to do, like they'd go crazy without work.
