Bittersweet

While I enjoyed watching this film very much I was saddened to see/hear the scenes that were not completed by Jean Harlow herself.

Of course I would rather see the body/voice doubles in those few scenes than to NOT have had the film completed and released.

Since everyone associated with the film is long gone I guess it doesn’t make sense to feel sad for Jean Harlow while not feeling sad about the loss of all the other great ones.

Thanks to all.

By all accounts, audiences overwhelmingly insisted that the film be released. And since NO ONE wanted the scenes with Jean to be re-done with another actress, MGM did the only thing they could.

Yes, they are all long gone, but Jean died at such a young age. She was still practically a kid and had so much life and charisma. The thought of someone so young and vivacious dying casts a very sad shadow over this film.
