Bad acting

Love old movies and have seen loads the last year. I think Humphrey Bogart was brilliant.
This film had an ok story and managed to keep my interest somewhat. What I reacted to was the awful acting from everyone except H.B.
How could these fools even land a role in an actual movie? Blows my mind...
