This was great -- an overlooked classic

When most of us think of Errol Flynn movies, such films as "Adventures of Robin Hood," "Captain Blood," "The Sea Hawk," and "They Died With Their Boots On" come to mind.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this when they showed it, uncut and commerical free, on TMC. Great Hollywood filmaking -- and amazingly good for a 72 year-old movie.

The funny thing here is that although it's technically an Errol Flynn movie, he doesn't show up until midway through the picture. By that time, one's forgotten that he's in the movie at all. Then, just when the prince is in big trouble and needs rescuing, Flynn shows up and you remember, "Oh, yeah! Errol Flynn!"

Agreed. I've docked one point since Errol Flynn is barely in the movie at all, but it's Hollywood entertainment at its finest. 9/10

Many Hollywood movies would be better off if the star didn't show up 'til half way through the film.

This is a Classic great story telling by one of the Greatest Authors of American Lit. I enjoyed almost everything in the movie. The only part that bothered me was the search for the Royal Seal at the end of the film to me that was added humor having the guy run back and fourth to the Princes bedroom just to pad out the length of the film. But then it was a classic movie with a lot of great acting.

Personally I could have done without the coronation sequence, rather bizarrely detailed and extended and slowing down what should have been the climax of the film. Overall a pretty splendid adaptation of the story, and I agree with those who commented on Flynn showing up halfway through the picture - this worked wonderfully, and his appearance was all the more rousing for his late entry.

I disagree, the coronation scene was very well done and added to the movie.
