Kino DVD authorized by Selznick estate due 12/20/11

After years of being available only on poor-quality public domain DVDs using bad prints, Nothing Sacred is at last getting a pristine DVD release.

Kino will release this film on DVD ($24.95) and Blu-ray ($29.95) on Dec. 20, 2011. It's mastered from the original 35mm print and is the first and only release of this movie authorized by the Selznick estate. Apparently, no bonus features will be included, but finally having a proper release of this movie is what really matters.

Kino is also releasing the 1932 version of A Farewell to Arms the same day, the first authorized, proper release of this film, hitherto also confined to crummy p.d. prints and DVDs. Now how about a Kino release of Selznick's original 1937 A Star is Born?

(Update: A Star is Born is coming out from Kino Feb. 7, 2012.)
