Poor, poor people

Anybody who doesn't like this film only deserves to be pitied. They have a sense of humor which is conspicuous by it's complete absence.
They can't take a joke, probably take themselves too seriously, and are a drag to be with.
They probably don't like Bringing Up Baby, Some Like it Hot and Slightly Dangerous.
Too bad, so sad...

Got it see it on the big screen about a year ago.

It's amazing what seeing it up there does for the film. I mean, I love it anyway, but my stars! It makes the jokes funnier, the performances fresher - everything. I love this movie, and I think Carole Lombard was one of the most beautiful women ever to grace the screen.

Truth be told, I didn't mind seeing Wellman's (Of whom I'm a fan.) work on the big acreen at all.

Sorry old thread, I know.
They might have made a beautiful couple, but fist fighting? That is not ok.
With that being said, I actually liked the film.

"Nothing Sacred" is one of my favorite comedies of all time. It is ten times funnier than anything that they make today.

What a presumptuous topic!

I've seen many old screwball comedies and yes, I liked Bringing Up Baby etc, but didn't find this picture humorous at all. And who are you to patronize me for it? Just because it's old and stars Lombard and March that doesn't make it a comedy classic. Maybe you should watch something like The Thin Man with excellent dialogues and characters and reevaluate. This was nothing special - plain characters, cheap jokes, and hardly any plot.

It is very good. It's one of my all-time favorites.

Jesus what pompous, self-congratulatory twaddle quite hilariously centered around this rather broad piece of slapstick. And indeed, out of 4 Lombard comedies I've seen, this one is actually the weakest, in large part due to Lombard herself whose act gets rather overwrought and goofy here, especially with the bizarre grimacing she keeps doing.

And yes, Some Like It Hot isn't all it's cracked up to be, either.

They may just not have the same tastes as you. i only find it moderately amusing myself, never been a huge fan of black comedy. I like bringing Up Baby much better. some Like it Hot is okay. never seen Slightly Dangerous. there are lots of films in the world, and we don't all have to like the same ones.
