Cox and Box the basis for this film

I see in the Gilbert & Sullivan listserv "Savoynet" that this film's plot is based on "Cox and Box", an early Sullivan and Burnand operetta, still performed around the world by G&S groups.

"Cox and Box, first produced in 1866, was the work of Sullivan and F.C. Burnand. A one-act farce, it concerns two lodgers, James John Cox and John James Box. ..." Later, of course, Sullivan composed the 14 G&S operas with William S. Gilbert supplanting Burnand.
