What do you think was the match girl's name?

The Little Match Girl, based on the story by Hans Christian Anderson. She is never given a name in the story. So what do you all think was her name? I like to think that her name was Celeste, it seems to fit her.

I'm sorry to break it to you, but Celeste is not a Danish name, so that probably isn't it...

I think her name was Freja! The name, though, is not the most pressing question. What can we surmise about her mother? Her shoes were said to have "belonged" to her mother, past tense. Also, the only relation to have loved her was the grandmother. The father beat her. Is this enough info to assume the mother died at an early age? It is also interesting to note that in the 1952 French version(Jeunne fille aux Allumettes)it is stated that her mother was lost!
