If this movie had been made today, the actress taking Dietrich's role would not have had to wear all of that make-up 24-7. It just looked so silly and was very distracting. I think she was fine in the role even though she was 36 at the time. At one point, in the court scene, one of the women calls her "a child". They could have left that line out, for sure.
