Granted that "Little Wooden Shoes" was a cute number, although it neither added to nor took away anything from the main story, I always thought that the part where they suddenly are all dancing a minuet in powdered wigs in what looks like the court of Marie Antoinette seemed really out of place.

I don't find it any more out of place than the Dutch part was! After all Heidi was Swiss, and the Swiss have more in common culturally and geographically with the French than with the Dutch.
