In the last scene where Heidi introduces Clara to her mountain friends, at one point, the blind woman played by Helen Westley reaches out to make contact with Clara. Heidi ignores her and rushes Clara away to meet other people. HOW MEAN IS THAT???

Agreed. Also, the ending, as sincere as it tried to be, seemed to have that stale "tacked-on" aroma.

shareI, too, have never liked Shirley Temple's "Heidi".....she was extremely irritating and every time she hummed that stupid song I wished 'The Grandfather' would heave her down the mountain. Of course, Temple was irritating in almost every role she played.

Without even bothering to go into the fact that Shirley Temple and the actress as "Blind Clara" were standing in front of a motion picture camera with the film rolling, and following the direction of Alan Dwan after rehearsing the script; just for my own benefit:
