What a rude, ugly little child!

In the last scene where Heidi introduces Clara to her mountain friends, at one point, the blind woman played by Helen Westley reaches out to make contact with Clara. Heidi ignores her and rushes Clara away to meet other people. HOW MEAN IS THAT???

"Don't call me 'honey', mac."
"Don't call me 'mac'... HONEY!"

reply

Agreed. Also, the ending, as sincere as it tried to be, seemed to have that stale "tacked-on" aroma.

reply

Heidi was the original "mean girl"..

I, too, have never liked Shirley Temple's "Heidi".....she was extremely irritating and every time she hummed that stupid song I wished 'The Grandfather' would heave her down the mountain. Of course, Temple was irritating in almost every role she played.

reply

She wasn't ignoring her. She was excited to introduce Klara to everyone at the table. Sheesh.

reply

Wow, most of you naysayers would have made great villains in Shirley's movies!

Without even bothering to go into the fact that Shirley Temple and the actress as "Blind Clara" were standing in front of a motion picture camera with the film rolling, and following the direction of Alan Dwan after rehearsing the script; just for my own benefit:

What possesses people like you to come to these message boards oozing with such hatred toward a little girl who was known to be sweet and innocent both on and off screen? (I'll forego the Rorschach inkblots session!)
