Has got to be better that any other MacDonald/Eddy film

Does anyone else prefer Allan Jones to Nelson Eddy?

"Remember men, we're fighting for this woman's honor, which is probably more than she ever did."

When I saw "The Firefly" at age 11--I was totally enraged that Nelson Eddy wasn't in it! I guess a lot of other people must have felt the same way! This morning I saw "The Firefly" on TV, a good 70 years later And I WAS impressed on how good it was ! Yes, Nelson Eddy tended to be rather wooden in his acting, and his voice merely acceptable! But the viewers liked him and Jeanette together.

Allan Jones could sing and act circles around Nelson Eddy. It boils down to whether one prefers tenors or baritones.

I prefer Allan Jones as an actor, singer and leading man to Nelson Eddy .

In this one film , he has better chemistry with Jeanette than Nelson ever had.

What a shame they were never reteamed - Jeanette and the handsome young tenor had great chemistry - on screen and off - they remained lifelong friends.
