Great Cast (in the future), But Kind of Blah

Vivien Leigh, Lawrence Oliver, and Flora Robson would go on to become very good actors/actresses in time. However, in this film, there is not much to sink your teeth into. There is really no hint of the magnificence we would see from Olivier and Leigh in future films. The movie itself is poorly plotted and directed. The costumes look nice, but the dialogue and pretty weak and the story doesn't carry much interest.

Olivier is the son of rebel who was captured by the Spanish who are at war with England. Leigh is his love in England. However, he also has a dalliance with a Spanish seniorita. Olivier goes undercover on behalf of Queen in order to sniff out an assassination plot. Its pretty boring from here on out.

The transformation of Leigh from this film to Gone with the Wind is remarkable. She either took some acting lessons or she was poorly utilized in this film. Its a nice movie to watch if you are curious to see Scarlett O'Hara before she was a southern belle.

I rated it a five, but could have marked it lower. It was pretty boring for being in this genre.

My memory foam pillow says it can't remember my face. I can tell its lying.
