With the Disney DR. SYN film now out on DVD, along with Hammer's take on the tale (CAPTAIN CLEGG, aka NIGHT CREATURES), it would be nice to see this first film get a good DVD release. While it appears as part of a DVD triple feature, the print used has large tear in it at one point. (Even the old public domain VHS tape used better source material.)

shareYou're absolutely correct; this film deserves a legitimate DVD release. The DVD triple-feature version is better than none at all, but the quality of the print is shameful. I was lucky enough to capture a late-night broadcast of the film on an independent college television station a few years back. So I have a copy that is somewhat better than the triple-feature DVD. But it's still nowhere near as good as a true DVD release. Perhaps one of the companies that caters to niche market releases will get around to DOCTOR SYN one day. One can only hope.
