About 30 min into the movie, when Mr. Keough, the butler, tells the gardener to water the lawn because Margit says the paper calls for sunny skies. As he turns, the gardener gives him the finger, though it looks like a bit of editing may have taken off the tip of it. Funny stuff.
Ha, if that impressed you, it's much clearer (no editing) when it's done in the Frank Capra / Barbara Stanwyck movie 'The Miracle Woman' from 1931 (!). Couldn't believe my eyes, at first! These old movies continue to surprise - I love 'em. Long live 1930-to-1957, the great years for movies, for scripts, and for unforgettable actresses. Can't get enough of them!
there's a scene in The Lost Squadron (1932) when one pilot is trying to get the attention of another at altitude, but the second pilot just gives him a nice, long flip-off.
the pre-code films are definitely worth watching!!!
