Reminded me of 'Madame X'

Except Lana Turner never let on who she was and why she killed the man. Also her ex-husband who was still alive didn't tell her secret after he recognized her in court.

TCM ahowed 'Confession' again this morning. I suppose I should have said 'Madame X' reminded me of this film. (lol) This film had a lot in common with the film 'the Firebird' (1934) which was also a murder mystery. TCM airs it occasionally. The the cast of characters were:

Ricardo Cortez. played a concert pianist. His character was the same rakish cad as this film's Michael Michailow.

Lionel Atwill, played the polictician. A devoted husband & father.

Verree Teasdale , played a politician's wife who hid her past with the pianist.

Anita Louise played her daughter who was secretly seeing the pianist.

Another very similar film is "The Secret of Madame Blanche" from 1934. Irene Dunne is a rough-looking bar owner on trial for a murder. Flashbacks reveal how she had a baby out of wedlock, gave him up, and went downhill from there. Twenty years later, she meets her boy, just in time to take the rap for a murder he committed. Mother love!

I watched the other day. Part of "Madam X is the same as the film 'Frisco Jenny' (1932). At the end it's the Same plot. The ending is slightly different. While Madame X dies while on trial ,Frisco Jenny goes to the electric chair rather than having her son find out who she really is.
