The Christmas/War montages at the beginning are unbelievable!Charles Crichton (director of A FISH CALLED WANDA decades later)is one of the credited editors. Wonder if he edited the great transitional montages throughout this classic?

In my opinion this is a desperately poor film. Welles' screenplay is rambling & dull, the acting by Massey and Richardson in particular was extremely over theatrical and not befitting of a film of the sci-fi genre and the story was uninvolving until the future Everytown of 2036. If the film predominantly or exclusively focused on that period it would have been considerably better in my view. The last 25 minutes are worthy of plaudits. It's just a shame about the first 64.

Yes, very poor.
