How funny is it that his name is 'Slaughter' ?

It's just one of those strange coincidences. And also his name is Tod.

reply

It makes it easy to remember his name.

Beware, take care, BEWARE!!!

reply

What's coincidental about it? If you're going to put on rip-roaring blood-and-thunder melodrama you aren't going to call yourself something like Dorian Wingrove, are you?

reply

I would actually. Dorian is a cool name.

reply

Not in Tod Slaughter's time it wasn't.

reply

It's a stage name.

reply

I was going to open a thread posting the same!! XD Yeah, it's very funny that his name is Tod and his surname is Slaughter. If it really is a stage name, maybe he adopted it thinking of Sweeney Todd.

reply

That's it exactly (about his thinking of Sweeney Todd when he came up with his stage name). His real name was Norman Carter Slaughter.

reply

Tod Slaughter was simply delightful as Sweeney Todd; his name is so perfect for this particular part.

"We're all part Shatner/And part James Dean/Part Warren Oates/And Steven McQueen"

reply

"Tod" is also a name in German for death. It's suspected that Tod Browning (director of "Dracula" and "Freaks") changed his name for this reason. Perhaps Tod Slaughter as well. Surprised they never worked together.

Did I not love him, Cooch? MY OWN FLESH I DIDN'T LOVE BETTER!!! But he had to say 'Nooooooooo'
