I really liked the character of Poten that he plays in this movie,, he's very evil, cunning, and deceptive,, what a great character that didn't have tons of horror behind it.

Agreed, there's a moment in chapter 10 where Poten is using his hypnotic ind control and because of the way it is shot and Lugosi's surprisingly restrained performance--it is actually quite chilling.
