Truly Awful

This gets my vote as Hitchcock's worst English film, possibly his worst
film ever. Slow, clumsy, incredibly uninvolving story. I stuck with it due
to my passion for Hitch, admiration for the great Sylvia Sidney and a 75
minute running time (although it feels like it ran for two and a half hours).
There isn't a shred of suspense and only the last twenty minutes, or so,
are worth a peek. Instantly forgettable film.

Rubbish. It's a cracking movie.

reply

I agree. I just watched it and found it riveting.

reply

haha, I'm trying to watch it on YouTube, and it's bad. Even though it's Hitch, I'm finding it hard to watch. I'm going to stick with it though. I'm going to watch all his films.

So watching it on DVD would make it a good film? I don't think so.

He's right though. There are only public domain copies on Youtube and they look hideous. Proper DVDs has remastered image and audio which is important for old films like this.

Blu-ray is even better. Network has a fine version of this out on BD.
