Bogart and Davis in 'Marked Woman'

It's weird to see Bogart and Davis in "The Petrified Forest" (1936) after just having watched both of them in "Marked Woman," which they made just about a year later (1937). Davis goes from being a clean-cut dreamy type of girl in Petrified Forest to being a glorifed tramp with a smart mouth in Marked Woman. And Bogart goes from being a rough, cynical killer in Petrified Forest to being a clean-cut nice-guy DA in Marked Woman.

I'd really recommend to fans of Bogart or Davis to watch those two movies back to back. Amazing contrasts!

That's funny; both are great movies. They had good chemistry and I wished they did more movies together where they were a couple.

If you want a Davis-Bogart marathon, add "Kid Galahad" and "Dark Victory."

Bogart's performance in Marked Woman is dreadful. As a crusading DA based on Thomas Dewey, he has no veracity whatsoever. At times he seems like he's reading his lines off cue cards. Even worse is his work in Dark Victory, with that ham-handed Irish brogue. He wasn't a star in the '30s because much of his film work in that decade is downright terrible.
