Remake

I know people will say, " Please, NO Remake! " . That this film is already perfect and should be left alone and a remake will never be as good and will definitely be horrible. It will also ruin the purity of the original or franchise and something like that. I know, I understand because I'm with you all.

I don't want a remake too because of today's standard and horrible actors. This is just for fun. You know cast your own actors kind of thing. Not by any mean serious,

JUST WANT TO BE CLEAR. SO THAT NO TROLLS AND FLAMERs BIATCHIN' ABOUT NOT TO MAKE A REMAKE.

Please don't cast someone that is horrible at acting and you want to see that actor just because the actor is hot. Cast actors that are most suitable to play the roles.

Okay, if you want to see or make a remake of My Man Godfrey, I will definitely want to see or cast these actors:-

Godfrey - Colin Firth

Irene - Blake Lively

Cornelia - Keira Knightley

The Mother - Helen Mirren or Meryl Streep

The Maid - Judy Greer, Molly Shannon or Uma Thurman

Please contribute, guys. Only that will make this thread very interesting.

! ~ UPDATE ~ !
_______________

Godfrey - Colin Firth

Irene - Blake Lively

Cornelia - Keira Knightley

The Mother - Meryl Streep

( Before this I was undecided between Streep and Helen Mirren, now I am sure Streep is perfect for the role )

The Maid ( Molly ) - Molly Shannon

( Before this I was undecided between Molly Shannon, Thurman and Judy Greer, now I am sure Molly Shannon is perfect for the role. The character and actress' names are the same too. What a coincidence! )

The Father - John Malkovich

Carlo - Steve Carell

Gray ( Grey ) - Jeremy Irons

I've read people's comment at YouTube and other places. This particular guy wants to cast these actors that I find so unsuitable. He wants to cast Hugh Jackman as Godfrey, Anne Hathaway as Irene and Reese Witherspoon as Cornelia.

The other guy wants to cast George Clooney as Godfrey. Clooney ain't got nothing on Bill Powell.

We don't need a remake because they have already remade it. It was remade in the 1950's with David Niven and June Allyson in the title roles. And it flopped. The original was flawless so no more thinking of another remake please. I shudder at the very thought ....

Well said and in total agreement. Why remake it when you have this perfect magnificent jewel available. I mean William Powell, Carole Lombard, Alice Brady, Gail Patrick, Eugene Pallette, Jean Dixon, Alan Mowbray and Mischa Auer. how could you improve on that cast? What more could you ask for?

I actually tried watching the Niven/Allyson version. I think I got 15 minutes into it before I turned it off. It was HORRIBLE.

Sadly, I think if they remade it for today's audience, it would be set during the recent recession and Godfrey would be black. They would make it an "urban" comedy. Sad, but true.
