On TCM Today (03/08/2014)

Murder on a Bridle Path will be shown on TCM this morning at 930AM Central Time.

I watched the three previous Hildegard Withers mysteries with Edna May Oliver on TCM and really enjoyed them. I hope this one with Helen Broderick in the lead will be as good. James Gleason is great as Oscar.

I really like it when TCM shows all the movies in a series like this one. It gives me something to look forward to watching on Saturday morning and is the perfect excuse to take a break from working in the yard.

Watching and enjoying it now :-)

I like the film series but neither Broderick nor ZaSu Pitts , who plays Hildegarde Withers in the next 2 films, 'The Plot Thickens'(1936) & 'Forty Naughty Girls'(1938), had the same chemistry with James Gleason that Edna May Oliver did. Oliver's "Hildegarde Withers" also had a personality that was unique to her style of acting. I am glad when TCM shows the series. It's usually done as a mini marathon or aired on consecutive Saturdays. This run was interrupted by 31 Days of Oscar so I'm glad they went back on schedule with the last two. 'The Plot Thickens' airs next Sat 4/15 10:30 am EST and the last one 'Forty Naughty Girls'(1938) airs 4/22 10:30 am EST.

As far as I can tell TCM hasn't run the series of Hildegard Withers movies back-to-back lately. I've been watching for them ever since I saw the first one, the Penguin Pool Murder, a few months ago. This is only the second one I've seen. So far I've enjoyed both and can't wait to see the rest.
