The final kiss

The movie ends with a close-up of Cooper and Arthur kissing. I must say, I was disappointed in Cooper - it looked like he wasn't even trying. Had I a chance to embrace and kiss Jean Arthur, they would have to pry me off with a crowbar. She was so sexy in this film.

I suppose the guy had some mixed feelings towards the gal. She had, afterall, done him a whole lotta harm throughout the film. Gotta admit, though, I might have the same reaction as you. Maybe Coops just that good an actor. ;)

I absolutely LOVE Jean Arthur, so don't think this is a criticism - minor as it is - of her, but I thought the kissing all over his face was more suited to the original female lead, Carole Lombard, just seems like something she, being wonderfully screwy, would do, not necessarily something Jean would do. Loved her as Babe, though, and wouldn't care to see Carole do the role, at least not above Jean (although I'll give anything either actress is in a go).

I know. In the whole great film that kissing bit was the only time I thought that it was done badly. Would have been forgettable if it wasn't the closing scene. Fantastic movie regardless.
