The trout (Walleye)

Bill wins over Connie and her father by (accidentally) catching Walleye, the elusive trout. They celebrate later and we see the trout laid out on ice on a plate. Connie is also making pancakes. When I saw the scene, I thought "Pancakes and TROUT?" Not to mention booze. She also keeps pouring batter on the griddle when Bill's plate is already full - how many pancakes does anyone need to eat? Finally, the father calls it a night when the trout is still on the table and nobody's touched it.
