Puffy-Faced Jean

Is it just me or do other viewers notice how puffy-faced Harlow looks in this? it bothers me because it seems she was ill when she was making this movie
- which she probably was. Great film, though!

Her face didn't look puffy to me, but she looked tired. This was the year her failing health began, & in her 1936 movies, she looked tired in them. She looked puffy in her last movie. But, she was a trooper to the end.

Her kidneys were failing her so yes she looked puffy

It's difficult for me to watch her in this.
She was holding up, trying her best, but something just is wrong.

Yes, she was puffy. She was actually dying! I love her performance but knowing what we do about her condition, her appearance is distressing on several scenes. (Her hairstyles and most of the costumes did her no favors either.)

But she's still vibrant and energetic. She really knew how to throw herself into her roles. I love when she approaches the wedding suite, and rips the "privacy please" note off the door.
