Seriously, how can anybody judge this movie?

I mean, it was a British movie and its original running time was 74 mns.
As for so much other foreign movies, the American print was drastically shortened, and some 12 mns are missing. Twelve minutes are a LOT of footage for a 74 mns movie...
So, how could I have any judgement when the only available print (apparently) is truncated so much?
I have the same problem with the Bela Lugosi British movie "The Mystery of the Mary Celeste". Here again, the original seems lost, and what remains is an abridged US version, missing important segments. In the last images of the movie, you can even spot some actors (among them D.J. Williams) who are not longer in this version, but are credited !

I didn't realize the running time had been shortened for this film. I just watched the 62 minute version and quite enjoyed it. Would love to see the full version.
